nilSwap is a testnet swap experience for moving between ETH and XMR using test assets.

It is designed around a simple idea: users should be able to move into and out of a private asset without relying on a trusted operator to link both sides of the flow.

This guide walks through both nilSwap testnet flows:

  1. ETH to XMR
  2. XMR to ETH

The ETH side uses Sepolia ETH. The Monero side uses Stagenet XMR. These are test assets only and have no real value.

nilSwap is currently for testing only. You cannot use real funds.

Before You Start

This guide uses Monero GUI, Monero’s official desktop wallet, for the Monero side of the flow.

Other wallet setups that support stagenet such as CLI and Feather may also work, but the steps below follow Monero GUI.

Before testing nilSwap, make sure you have:

For the ETH to XMR flow, you will need Sepolia ETH.

For the XMR to ETH flow, you will need Stagenet XMR and a small amount of Sepolia ETH for gas.

Part 1: ETH to XMR Swap Walkthrough

Before you head to nilSwap, make sure your EVM wallet is connected to Sepolia and has Sepolia ETH

In this flow you send Sepolia ETH through nilSwap and receive Stagenet XMR in your Monero Stagenet wallet.
